Balancing text, image and narrative

I love the idea that comics are a finely tuned balance between the image, the text and the narrative. You can draw words and write pictures (to steal from Matt Madden and Jessica Abel)


I justifiably therefore find this caption from Lois Lane #65 amazing – in one sentence, Jerry Siegel manages to do away with pages upon pages of needless story and unnecessary drawing to lead neatly to the next point in the plot;
